Happiness On A Dreary Road

I have been going through a lot in my life and I am very thankful of all the people that I have around me. Every day that is a challenge to me I have to find a way through. I found today that I was thinking of all the little things today that made me happy.

1. A little girl I saw eating an ice cream cone. It took me back to that time in my life of innocents.

2. The gentleman that I see on the bus that always says hello to me, even though I don't know his name it is a given that he will say hi.

3. An old friend that always calls to ask if I'm o.k. It is funny he never misses a holiday, a birthday or just has a thought of me one day.

4. The smile I get every once in a while from that person that means so much to me. It is the smile he gives me that he has no idea that he is giving and could never give you on command.

5. Knowing someone else was having just as bad of a day as I may be having only to me it sounded worse then anything that I may be going through.

6. Walking the dog and having her shit in someone else's yard then mine and knowing that it is so early in the morning that in the dark it makes no difference if I clean it up or not, Shh no one is around to see it.

7. Putting on a pair of shorts to find that they are a little bit looser then they were just two weeks earlier. Oh, that could be just because I haven't ate breakfast yet. It still makes me smile.

8. Walking down the street and having some young guy yell abscene comments of attraction at me. Ten years ago I may have yelled back, now I just smile a cute smile.

9. Making something so unbelievably simple that you have done a million times and messing it up. (There is a new invisible Kool-Aid out and if you don't add it to the sugar and water, you have know idea you messed it up until someone says they like your sugar water.) Yes, it is quite embarrassing yet it made me laugh my ass off. Which brought that much needed smile.

10. Seeing an old picture of yourself that you hadn't seen in a while. Your face may turn red but you are still going to smile.

I was once told that any true emotion only last 10 seconds the rest is us feeding into that emotion. I have no idea if that is true but when I do think about it, I like the fact that after all is said and done there usually is something revolving around the situation that can and usually does make me laugh.

Where would everyone be without this trick in life. Yes, life makes us mad, sad and sometimes even furious but it is still life and in alot of way totally funny. So get mad, be sad, or even totally pissed off and if you get the chance have someone video tape it. (Try not to hurt them though!) Then review it and see how funny you and the situations we come across really are.

Later Dawner!
